BayBuilt Structures builds aluminum structural systems for homeowners and contractors across Sarasota, Manatee & Charlotte Counties, FL. We work in one lane: structures that carry real wind load — screen enclosures, carports, railguards, and integrated T&G ceiling systems — and we build every one of them to a documented structural standard, not a rule of thumb.
Florida’s wind provisions are not uniform across the state. Design wind speed, exposure category, and mean roof height all change what a structure needs to survive at a given address. A structure built to code minimums for an inland, sheltered lot is not automatically adequate for an open coastal exposure a few miles away. Every project starts with the site’s actual classification under the current Florida Building Code and ASCE 7 wind provisions, not a generic assumption carried over from the last job.
Sarasota, Manatee, and Charlotte counties sit outside Florida’s High-Velocity Hurricane Zone (HVHZ), which applies only to Miami-Dade and Broward counties under the Florida Building Code. That distinction matters for which testing standards and installation methods apply — and we design and document accordingly, rather than defaulting to HVHZ assumptions that don’t apply here, or under-building for a coastal exposure that calls for more than a standard inland minimum.

Why We Build This Way
A screen enclosure or carport doesn’t fail because the aluminum snapped — it almost always fails at a connection: a fastener pulled through, a post that wasn’t anchored to resist uplift, a panel that was never tied into a continuous load path back to the footer. We design and inspect every connection point with that failure mode in mind, because that is the standard your structure will actually be tested against the next time a named storm crosses this coast.
